Title: How do I get my 5-speed shifter out?
Post by: 96kickjx on June 06, 2007, 08:33:53 AM
I'm getting a 3" body lift and I'm gonna need to weld on an extension, I've gotten the console, the boot everything else out, now I'm stuck, and also, how do I go about welding an extension on and where exactly on the shifter do I weld it, I know somewhere on the bottom.

There is a ring around the shifter as when you look at the top of the tranny. Push down on the ring and turn clockwise 1/4 turn and it will release. It is spring loaded to hold it in place, so push hard.

Yea, that's it. A pair of Mechanics gloves will really help to keep your fingers from slipping on it.
