Post by: urbanwheeler on June 11, 2007, 04:16:42 AM
I thought it was kindof neat to see an sj410 buildup.

Heres the link:http://youtube.com/watch?v=pSKSJUW77p8 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=pSKSJUW77p8)

It is about 50 minutes if you watch all the sections ;)

That was most enjoyable...his "off roading" wasn't much to write home about though.

I found it after I watched part 3
True, the off-roading wasn't anything to write home about.
But they did a show on a sammie
2points for that

Hi team,

They did a documentary on a Land Rover build up to. That one was actually quite good because he did some nice mod's and it seemed to perform well.
The off roading in the UK seems to be a lot different than most of you lot do - Rhino will fill us in some more I am sure ;) , you out there Rhino.

Good to see the old 410's being resurected all the same  ;D. We are lucky over here in NZ because unlike the UK we do not salt our roads and the climate is steel friendly mostly - eg: still plenty of 410's kicking around ( and a few LJ's ).

It was good publicity for Zuks and the off road scene but clearly they had no idea what they were doing. the constant references to Jeeps and Mini-Monster trucks just proved that. The 'off-roading' was pathetic, they should have gone to a pay and play day at a proper off road site to show just what these little trucks can do.
They painted over the rust and then were surprised when it failed its inspection. We still have lots of 410s, 413s and Sammys over here - mainly because they sold so many. Rust is a big problem on many but people build Zuks to use and for the challenge of building them so the time spent on them isn't counted in £s. Most of the modified Zuks tend to get parted for spares rather than sold because of the relatively low resale values.
I don't think I'd want to buy a vehicle from Mike Brewer, he's what we call 'a bit of a wide boy'. He was pushing it a bit to say that mileage didn't matter because it had a 'new' engine (it was used) and refurbished axles (they repainted them!).
Still it was good entertainment which is what TV should be and it could well get a lot more people into the scene. Good post, I had heard about that programme but not seen it before, we don't get that channel where I live.

yea, those guys are hacks ...

You should see the one where they make a dune buggy. they take a decent beetle (runner with ok body and rusted pan), and then are shocked when the pan is rusted (sheesh climb under it and look before you sledge hammer a decent body).

3,900 British Pound = 7,674.89 US Dollars

you could build one hell of a sand rail for that, or an even better suzuki >:D
