Title: Boondox 3" Springs
Post by: Uncivilized on June 12, 2007, 05:14:32 PM
Anyone here using their 3" lift springs on a 2-door tracker? Their webpage listes the 2.5" springs for a SWB and the 3" for a LWB, Just wondering if there's a reason...

Yep! here is link to the build!

I used boondox 4 door 3 inch lift coils in my 2 door... The 4 doors are alittle stiffer but thats nice for when you add weight and like aftermarket bumpers and such.

Are they more stiff than stock? I have coil spacers now, and I don't like them. I find it drives more rough on the roads than it did before. I was hoping if I went to a full length lift spring it might help, and If I'm buying, I might as well get the longest available. But I suppose 2.5" would be close enough...  :-\

That's peculiar.  Very counterintuitive.  Did you do the normal thing and upgrade your tires when you added the spacers?  Perhaps they are the source of the added roughness.

I dont really notice that much of a difference than I did before, maybe alittle.  But I am going to replace the shocks I am using in the back  to help with that too.  I got some for a F150 and those things are stiff as hell.

I have 2 sets, stock 205's on stock rims, and 235's on 7" wheels. I've compared, it's the same with both, the stock ones do ride a little better, but not as nice as it was when it was stock height. I've also tried different tire pressures on the 235's, as low as 10psi on the street, it helps, but I shouldn't need to. I run them now at about 19/20 psi all the time on the street.

did you take off the swaybar that will cause a stiffer feeling since it is not at the correct angle my truck is really smooth now

Hijack (sort of):  Has anyone had any luck getting ahold of Steve or boondox?  I have left several emails and phone messages.  No reply.  I would like to buy his 3" kit and I have $ burning a hole in my pocket...

end hijack :)

Yeah, that's been off for a while now. Maybe it's just the nasty roads we have here!! I'm installing a body lift at the end of the month, 2 inch or 3 inch, whatever I can get/make so I can put on my 31's, maybe the bigger tires will help if I run them with a lower pressure.

That makes sense. If the stuts and shocks aren't extended by the length of the lift then the spring preload will be considerably higher. If they're not extended at all then the suspension will also top out giving a very rough ride.

i will admit that i only did a 1.25 on the front and did the strut mount flip and i am almost back to stock movement the only thing left is to do the camber and then i can tell you for sure what the ride will be like.....out of curiosity i have been told that 1980 vw jetta camber bolts work on ours....has any tried this? i do love the ride of my truck now. i can not wait to go offroading with bfm and try out the difference.

Spec Products list the 1980-98 Jetta as an 81250 bolt which is indeed the same as the Track/Kick. I can't find the box that mine came in but it did list a good few different vehicles that use the same bolts.
