Title: Kick auto trans help
Post by: IKUZUS on June 13, 2007, 06:30:10 PM
'95 4 door Kick auto........actual mileage and maintenance unknown. It shifts perfect through the gears but it will "jerk" kind of hard from park to reverse or park to drive. Maybe a broken mount? Tranny bad?? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

This may or may not help, but if you have a locker( i.e. Detroit EZ Locker, Lock-Rite) in the rear, it will do this. There is a little "slack" in the rear end once they are installed. Noticeable with an auto, no so much with a manual. I have a Lock-Rite in my '97 Sport, and it does exactly the same thing. The locker manual says this is normal.

Check the adjustment on the throttle kickdown cable. Other than that, mine did the same thing and one day it lost all drive in third gear so it cost me heaps to rebuild the transmission!

It doesn't have a locker..........pretty much bone stock.

That's what I was afraid of RodW.  :(

check your ujoints for play, they will cause this too. get a friend to sit in truck and shift it while you look under to see whats moving. Be sure to block the wheels and set the park brake first though
