I didn't know Art (NC ZUK) personally... What a terrible loss. My prayers go to his family. :'(
-
I did not know Art but being a Zukiholic and serving our country
My thoughts and Prayers go out to him and his family
Thank You.
-
I didn't know him, but God bless him. Next time memorial day rolls around don't forget him and the thousands that have gone before him defending this great country.
Like someone said on the Pirate forum.... damned allergies.
-
I didn't know him but it is still really sad to lose a fellow zuker and a loyal American.
-
God Bless Him and his family.
Thanks Art, you are one of the many brave and honorable that has made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,
Zig

For those that knew him, he had one of the cleanest, most functional zuks I have ever seen, if only on the net. He was the type of guy you could ask any question to, and he'd always help you in the right direction.

I am posting this with a VERY heavy heart. Today is a very sad day for Zuwharrie. :\\'(
7th Army Special Forces Master Sgt. Art Lilley aka NC_Zuk killed in Afghanistan.
About 9:30 this morning I received a call from Rawling's (Carolina_Zuk) that Art was killed in action while defending our nation. Art is a hero. One of my best friends and one of the bravest men I have ever known. Please make it a point to stop what you are doing today and say a prayer for his family.

Never met the guy, but talked w/ him many times. Even sent him a care package of magazines and other stuff a few years ago.
RIP Art, and thanks for your service to this country!

I never met him personally but chatted on line and through e mail on occasion. I always thought we would meet up on a trail sometime. You will be missed. :'(

Never good news.

He is not gone ... he is just farther up the trail from us, and we are grateful for those who step up and show us the way...

I like many others did not know him personally but have felt a great loss. Art was so active in so many forums it was almost impossible to not know of him if you were a zook guy. Like many I followed his builds over the years with admiration. His zook was always so clean and the fab was top notch. I also respected his sacrifice of serving our country while raising his kids. I know I couldn't do it.
anyway maybe it's my age or something but this really hit me hard.
-
Ive been bummed about this all day. I only interacted with him online but I always had a large amount of respect for him and his passion for our sport. He was always helpful and kind. I was reading this post from one of his close freinds on another site.
*Snip*
I talked to him a couple of weeks ago, and he said that the Army was "spoiling" him... because he had his own space (a walled off section of a tent), complete with a real bed, a desk, and a lamp. He also talked about being able to eat as much as he wanted, and the food was really good.
For most Americans, these accommodations would would be far from acceptable (no air conditioning?), but for this soldier he felt that it was more than he ever needed.*Snip*
I wish I had gotten the chance to shake this mans hand. Art and his family are in my prayers. The Zuk community wont soon forget you.

This hit me like a load of bricks. Art was a great Zooker, and was always helping others with the hobby he was so passionate about. Regardless of how folks feel about what's going on in the world, it selfless people like Art that step up to help and do the right thing.
The world was a little brighter when his candle was lit. Without it, it shines a bit less. :'(
I pray to the Lord that his sacrifice is not in vain, and that his family knows that he is loved, respected and missed by many.
My heart goes out.
-
It's strange how you haven't actually met someone you chat to over the internet, but they still feel like close friends. I, like many, only spoke with Art through threads, and PM, but he still felt like a friend, and the same goes for other members here.
I give my condolences to the Lilley family.
-
This is very sad news and it amazes me the way the entire wheeling community has come together over this. Art will be (an already is) missed immensly.
