I recently have noticed a pretty bad leak on my 96 Tracker. It seems like the fluid is coming from the top of the transmission b/c the fluid is running down the sides and splattering all over the place... Any thoughts where this could be coming from? I noticed when I refilled that I lost about a half a bottle of fluid
Thank you

The cooler lines might be leaking

where are they located? Any pics...
Thank you!

Anybody, I am sort of in a rut...

Just a thought. Could be that it is coming out of the fill tube maybe because the tranny is too full. It might have the wrong dipstick in it and you are overfilling. Next time you pop the hood, see if the dipstick is slightly out of the fill tube or if there is evidence of oil around the fill tube. Just something to check that doesn't cost anything.

It is a manual tranny so I didn't think there was a dipstick. Is there?

I just had pretty much the same situation. The rear output seal on the tranny was leaking bad, then the oil went in that cavity and filled up until it started leaking out (from the top). That cavity where the t-case and tranny meet up is supposed to be dry, so i don't believe it's siliconed shut, so the oil will leak from there.
There's also a chance that the shifter extension housing up top has oil leaking from it, if it's too full. It's less likely though.
