Title: Choke Pull Off

My '88 Samurai engine starts OK, but barely stays running, smokes, gasoline smell. Runs great warmed up. Mechanic says it needs choke pull off. What is this? Where do I get one? Do I need to get a whole new carb? Can I put in a manual choke control? Thanks for any help.

Describe "Runs very poor at start" and then maybe we can help.
