My 1996 Tracker tranny is leaking at a good rate and i think I might know where. I was able to clean off the oil enough to make a good assumption as to where the fluid may be comming from. If I look down on the top of the tranny from the engine compartment, on the driver's side I notice there seems to be a hole next to some sort of plug with wires coming out of it... My guess is the hole used to have a bolt or something in it? I imagine the plug with wires is some sort of sensor or something, but at any rate the hole is right next to it towards the rear and when it leaks it drains down the side of the transmission next to the cat converter..
Does anyone know what goes in that hole if anything? If it is a bolt what gauge and thread?
Any help is great!
Thank you

There is a plug in the area you are talking about, get the diagrsm of the trany and you will see a couple of rubber plugs. I finaly got some from the dealer and fixed my leak. :)

I had the same leak. I cleaned the area with a rag and brake clean then put a big dab of silicone over the hole
