Alright, My 96 1.6 16 valve 5spd. gets what I consider GREAT mileage, it always gets between 30 and 32, usually 32, and when I checked it today, it had creeped up on 33... One reason for that is my driving style and the fact that I live 50 miles from work, and 80% of the trip is on the interstate....
My question is this: I just intalled my Spacer lift (thanks jeff), and am deciding on who I'll get my Body Lift from, or If I'll just build it myself. First off, I'm going to run some 31x10.5's that I already have in the shop, and when they wear out, I'll be running 32x11.50 BFG M/T's.. What kind of drop in mileage have you guys seen when you add larger tires? I was hoping to get around 25 mpg...

I get 25 mpg with my 4 door, 16 valve, 1.5" lifted, 29" tired Sidekick. I do more city driving though, and sometimes I'm a little heavy on the pedal.

i got a different vehicle all together, (88 samurai) but i found highway driving, i didn't lose alot of mileage at all with my bigger tires, Its the in town, driving and getting the tires moving that takes the gas once they start moving its easier to keep em moving, as long as your air pressure is good, and you don't have to climb alot of steep hills etc...

I live in a little island just off the UK called Guernsey... Speed Limit = 35mph and theres many many roads, junctions etc, which means all my driving is very 'stopping and starting' all the time...
When i stuck on my coil spacers and 3" body lift with 31"MTs i didn't actually notice any difference! My clocks still measured nearly the same miles per tank, which would be out slightly anyway with bigger rubber!
I'll let you know next week what happens, i've got BFG MTS 32x11.50 coming :)

My '96 5-speed got similar mileage to yours (never saw 33mpg, but also never saw less than 28) on stock tires. I moved to 29" 235s and never saw over 26 again (corrected). Good luck ever finding a use for 5th gear with 32s.

I'm on 30's and 1 3/4" spacer lift with 35psi in the tires, gettin 26-27 mpg mostly freeway miles. I get about 24 in the city. My best stock was 28. '96 16V 4 Dr. Tracker 5 spd. I don't drive slow.

I've got 33 X 10.50's and 5.83:1 diffs.
I run around 24 MPG. :-[
