Title: lowering kit installed
Post by: Suzuki1.8 on July 07, 2005, 04:45:56 PM
Well after months of planning and saving i finaly managed to get my sidekick lowered 20s put on and new paint job. I'll walk through what it took to lower the car incase there are any other zuks out there wanting to follow.
here is what i started out with stock

THis is after i put 20s on and it went to the paint shop

I purchased my lowering kit form drivewire it consisted of b&g springs and a intrax camber kit total cost 239 shipped to my door
here is comparsion of the stock spring to the new one
(http://www.omghi2.us/april05/sl3.jpg)
as you can see from the photo it is about a inch shorter so it will give it a 2 inch drop when compressed.
The rear is reallu simple all it takes it unhook the shock at the axle end jack up from a point on the frame and it will drop the axle enough to pull the springs out. Replace with new spring and bolt back up shocks. The front is just as simple but requires more parts to be removed. THe first is the tire to gain access to the lower strut bolts remover both of them. Next you need to remove the clip holding the brake line so it will drop with the controll arm. And finaly the stablizer bolt on the bottom of the a arm need to be removed and it will drop low enough to pull the coil. here is a picture show what it looks like. (http://www.omghi2.us/april05/sl4.jpg)
I measure all the point of the car to see if it was a true 2 inch drop and the front before was 25 from ground up to top of bumper after drop it was 23
here is a photo measureing top of tire to fender before

and here is the final product next to a stock side kick

THe tires are a 225 30 20 bfg kdw g force. Its the lowest profile they make. I can't be a rapper if it don't look like i'm rolling on blades. As to the bronco thats my other baby thats way i lower the sidekick so it wouldn't get jelouse of me spending time in the kick off road. The bronco sports fuel injected 302 dynatrac 60s with arbs and 7 inch suspension and 3 body pluse all the roll cages ect and rides on 37 mtrs

Now that's what all of you should do with your IFS rigs.  ;D ;D ;D ;D J/K

I think the Track/Kicks look pretty trick pimped out.

did you get rid of the hood scoop thingy in the first pic?

Looks pretty good! Watch out for those curbs! I cried when I bent one of my 18's on a car I had would suck to bend a 20!!!  :o

Very well done.  Classy, it doesn't look like one of those rediculous "ricer" rigs.  Good to see a little variety.  I'm a wheelin' guy myself, but this is a nice change of pace.  Are you planning any other mods?  How much $$ were 20's in a Zuk bolt pattern.

The hood scoop went as i thought it made it look cheap since it wasn't molded in. The mods still left to do are leather interior which is going in next week. The wheels were not that expensive considering i work for american racing wheel company and am the sales rep for them for all of utah and montana and idaho and wyoming. engine already has a custom ground cams with a ported and polished head a 3 inch cat back with open air intake and a center force clutch and it has a custom made chip from jet. I would like the put a turbo on but as there is not kit it would have to be custom and that means i will need to save agian.

Aside from teh ultra low profile tires, it looks great... for a lowered 'kick ;)
