hey does anyone know what would happen if i took out the catalytic converter out of the exhaust because i found an o2 sensor behind it. what can i do? >:D
-
The secondary 02 sensor is usually just wired to the check engine light. However I would recommend going with a high-flow cat instead of removing it.
-
The second O2 sensor is monitored by the ECU to test that the Cat is functioning correctly. You will get a Check Engine Light but it shouldn't have a detrimental effect on the performance.

i read some wear that the ecu will go into closed loop mode and plummet the gas millage or something like that

I think you mean open loop, like when the engine is cold and the ecm has not kicked in yet.

It'll go into open loop if the front O2 sensor is deemed to be defective. How much the mileage changes will depend on the condition of the engine. The ECU is mapped to suit a nice new engine with everything properly adjusted. The O2 sensor is there to allow the ECU to compensate for engine wear and for the engine going out of tune between services. It measures the fuel mixture and then tweaks the fuelling (Fuel Trim Value) if its out.

But all that is done with the first 02 sensor. As he mentioned earlier, the second one is just to make sure the cat is working properly and will throw the Check Engine light on. :)
