Title: Samurai front end rebuild
Post by: daddyizzle on July 08, 2007, 04:34:19 PM
I think I need to move on to the front end now. I was told when I had an alignment that my front bearings were lose or something. Before I go and spend a ton on parts, I need to see what I need. I may not need a full kit. I may just need grease in the bearings. I'm not sure where to start but I hate to take it a part and find too much wrong to justify putting it back together without already having the replacement parts on hand. The samurai drives down the road straight but I know it's due for front maintnance including the aisan hubs. No telling when it was done last. :-\

Where do I start ??? ??? ???

If I did get a kit, would the front knuckle rebuild kit from Hawk have everything I could possibly need or is there a more complete kit or a better kit? ??? ???

The Hawk "Front Knuckle Overhaul kits with wheel bearings" should have everything you need to rebuild the front knuckles.

In order to check your front bearings, just take apart the front end and pull the hub.  Once out you can remove the front bearings and see if they are shot or not.  If the problem is with front end wobble you may actually need new Tie Rod ends.

If you have a lot of grease coming out of the back side of the hub around the axle, it might be a good time to rebuild the knuckles anyway.
