Title: rear shock question?
Post by: yak600 on July 09, 2007, 12:40:27 PM
I drive my sidekick back and forth to work everyday bout 140miles total. well the right rear shock went out on me over the weekend. now it has a gangsta lean to it. i want to replace them tomorrow. can i go ahead and run the crown vic shocks on it even though i havent gotten the spacers yet? i saw where some people with a small lift were runnin the monroe shocks 5961 or 55961. i'd hate to buy shocks now and then have to get another set when i get the spacers.

I hope it's got more of a "dinghy slosh" than a "gangsta lean", otherwise the shock probably isn't your issue.

A Crown Vic is a wee bit heaver than a Zuk.  They might be a bit "stiff".

Try ac Delco part #520-219. those sre the shocks most guys use with my 1.5" and 2" coil spacer lifts.

if your shocks are dead than you will bounce over bumps for a long time or uncontrollably but if you are leaning you should look for a broken spring or a sagging spring.

ya it only leans harder to the right side when i hit bumps. thanks for the shock number jeff. i wanted to get 1.5" spacers off of you soon. are those yours i saw on ebay? so i guess you have some right? would it be okay to go ahead and run those shocks right now until i get the spacers? i also couldnt find part number 520-219 on ac delco's website, have they changed it to another number?

Check that your springs won't fall out with the shocks at full extension. That will give you a gangsta lean  :o
