Title: Hey I'm looking for compatability with grills
Post by: hickwheeler on July 13, 2007, 11:55:06 PM
Alright first of all I love this website and want to thank all the contributers here for getting me into the zukiworld. And I am proud to say that I am a new owner of a 1996 Geo Tracker, 4x4, manual trans. My Question is what grills would be compatible with this model because mine is shot. thanks.

Could go with one like this...

... 1/2 in sched 40 PVC pipe and eight 1/2 in "T's" ...about $5 at Home Depot.

I'm still working on bending the hoops to go around the lights...

Yes.
Some have the bottom trim that goes under the frill and fenders and
some years do not.
Just takes a Lil cutting to swap one year to the next.

When I whacked an 8 pointer with my '96 Tracker, the only grill I could find was an '89 'Kick.  I had to trim the "ears" to make it fit.  Also, the lower mounting points didn't line up, so I had to improvise a pair of brackets out of sheet metal.

YEP, same truck as the gray one above...

anyone know where i can get one of the "Special Edtion" grilles?

Those were the best, they only were on the Special Edition lime green sidekicks one year.  That's truely the best looking Suzuki grille.

Actually, that's about all there is to it.

It's just 8 T's and 4 pieces of 1/2 in PVC water pipe stuck together as shown (1-1/2 inch lenghts of pipe hold the T's together without gaps).  I had to put it across a 2x4, weight the ends and hit it with a heat gun to get a bend into it.  I used 3 plumbing hanger straps at the stock mounting points.  I am still working my bending techinque to get the tubing bends around the headlights right.
