I'd like to think that I am pretty good at figuring out stuff...
...but this has me stumped.
I have been fighting belt squeal on my '93 Sidekick. After a lot of stumbling around - taking things apart and putting them back together again - I have discovered that the AC compressor is about 1/8th inch out of alignment with the crank pulley and the power steering pulley towards the rear.
There does not seem to be any obvious way to adjust this other than taking a small amount of metal off the mounting tab that holds the fore-and-aft bolt on the AC compresor mount.
For those not familiar with the accsessory mounting brackets, both have two bolts that at right angles to a third bolt which is oriented parallel to the fore-aft plane of the engine.
Is there something that I am missing in the ancient art of accessory pulley alignment??

Just put an 1/8" washer under the engine side of the mount next to the belt cover and see what that does.

Can you pull the pulley (ahh, the hunted becomes the hunter..) and place a spacer behind it?
