I searched in the forum and found several poast that list 2dr tack/kick rear spring as 156 lb/in
but when i use the calculaters on line I come up with 101 lbs/in, by the dimmentions, and as i was getting quotes from the 2 seperate spring makers they had different sping rates on file for the rear spring 165 lbs/in and 107 lbs/in? what gives???? I'm going to oder custom springs but what rate???
-
A good spring maker would be able to measure what your springs are at now, and adjust accordingly.
I highly doubt it's only 107lbs/in. My 4-door has 200lbs/in springs in the back of it, and they're still very comfortable (not hard at all).
What specs are you wanting them to make them to? Massive lift, progressive rate, ???
-
157lbs is the value declared by Suzuki. I did have a copy of the document at one time. I'm not sure if I've still got it. 165lbs is pretty close its only 5% out so it could be within Suzukis tolerances or a simple measurement error.
You can measure the rate by placing a known weight on the spring and measuring the compression. Just remember that whatever you measured the weight with will have a measurement tolerance itself.

I want em soft mabey to soft but i just ordered them 20" free lenght 95lb/in straight rate, If I'm making a huge mistake let me know!!!!
-
I don't have anything to back this up, but if they are too soft, the coils will hit themselves (become coil bound) on compression, and they'll wear out very quickly.

I borrowed a digital scale from work and checked the ome springs in a hydrolic press 125 lbs |removethispart|@ 1" , and 274lbs |removethispart|@ 2" and they are to stiff for my tastes so..... thats like 133 lbs/in average
I have 1064 lbs on the back axel thats 532 per spring 20" free length and I want a 14.5-15" spring ride hight so 532lbs/5.5inches= 96 lbs/in I orded 95 they have a collapsed hight of 6" and my tire should hit the fender before I get to 6" so I don't think coil bind will a problem
-
The standard 2-door rear OME coils are OME952 and they're 345mm (13.5") free height with 140lbf/in.
Considering you're asking for a coil 6" taller than that, the spring rate will be a lot less like you've stated.
I'll be interested to see what you're doing with this, since that'll be about 7" more height over stock. What's going on up front?

;D toyota IFS full front clip modified to for flex, and after i poasted last night i did some more math pannicked and called to change spring rate you'll all be happy to know you were right and 95 lb/in was to soft, new rate 106lbs/in!!! ;D
thanks for the help! zuki are the best toy ever, and this is the web site for them!
as a side note if any one is intresed in doing a low buck 6" lift with swap to yota axels I Have been thinking about doing sortof a how I dunnit poast with picks and autocad drawings I made. if not I won't waste the space

As soon as you mention the words "low buck" someone will be interested. Post if up if you've got the time.
