Today I lost my grill.  It came off when wheeling and didn't notice it til later.  It was probably driven over after coming off.  Now I need to either find a used grill, make one or go grill-less.  Has anyone made a wire mesh grill?  The kind ricers put on their cars. :)  Has anyone here gone grill-less?

Dude, pull the bumper cover off, slap some more green paint on er, and call it done! I almost went grill less and bumperless, but that wouldn't fly!

Looks like ya got some trail rash :P

it looks like a bull used the car for a scratching post ::)
i love it hes like yep i need a grill..as the front fender slaps the door all the way home :o

The fender wasn't actually making any noise. Plus I can fix that easily enough.
-
really? looks like its totaly warped..so do u have any pics of the tree that hit u??
u got me thinking about a set of those high tech retreads now
-
I just need to find a point to screw the fender down to at the bottom. I'm not too worried about that. The Hi-tech's did great until I got in over my head. I love those tires.

Holy cow! I though losing the occasional mirror and getting the occasional scratch or dent was bad enough! LOL!!! All that damage was from ONE outing? Good job! LOL!!!

The worst part is losing the grill. It just poped out an an inopportune time. The fender and the mirror were from being pulled against a tree when being winched out.

I haven't tried yet, but as soon as I can score a hood, I'll start trying. (Ugly incident with an 8 point buck).
I got a grill from a yard in Elgin a week or so ago. It's off an '89 Kick, and the only one they had. I would have to cut it to get it to fit the '96, and I kinda hesitate to do that because its in pretty good shape.
Before I go cutting on it, I may try the Quincy-Lynn technique of forming one out of urethane foam and fiberglassing it.

looks like the deer won.

looks like the deer won.
If he only lost a hood and grill I'd say he won.
-
Although the deer's demise was not immediate, he was later killed in a shootout with the Kildeer police. (I kid you not... ...that really is the name of the police department that responded.) I had to wait another half hour for it to get light enough to drive without lights, but I did drive the Zuk home...

My wife bought a grill off ebay. Was brand new and in great shape.

Thats what it looks like, but there is always more damage you can't see. Rule number one when lookin at body work.

Actually, the condenser fan was pushed up against the condenser coil, the condenser coil was pushed up against the radiator, and the radiator was pushed up against the fan. They are bent, but nothing broke to the point of leaking.
The pole in the background of the picture is secured into 800 lbs of concrete. I have used the pole and a comealong to pull the front end out. I separated the fan coil sandwich without breaking anything and I got everything pretty well back into place. I replaced the headlights, parking lights, and the header bar. Now, I just need the hood.

OK, I was playing around out in the garage last night and I think this will work.
My plan is to use 1/2 inch PVC Schedule 40 conduit. Starting at the lower corner, heat the conduit with a hair dryer to bend the outside headlight surround. Use a 90 degree angle at the bottom corner to transition to the lower horizontal bar. Use a "t" fitting top and bottom inside corners of the headlight and a vertical piece to complete the headlight surround. then use "t's" to make the locations for vertical bars like building with "Tinkertoys". Then, hot glue plastic gutter mesh to the back.
I think it will work.

That's great. My kick was wrecked when I bought it and the hood would not open. I used a tow strap, a telephone pole and reverse in 4-low to pull mine back out ;D I had 2 people stop when I was doing it to "see if I was OK" because they thought I had just hit the pole ::) They just looked at me wired and drove off when I told them I was fixing my truck :P

Please don't put that on your Track/Kick
The Trucklet will never forgive you
Drive with out a grill, find a wrecking yard
one, and touch up the paint in the meantime
I know it looks funny now, I had no grill for
over a year, but it grow on you after a while,
just give it a chance.

I purchased my grill from Hawk (1-888-samurai) They had the best prices at the time, and probably still do.

Did you have any problems being without a grill? Damage to the radiator?
-
No problems being without a grill,
I don't have A/C either so it was
just a bare naked radiator ;)

Today I lost my grill.
Why not buy an aftermarket grill? I picked up one from the LAPS for $34... w/ fender & turn signal $100 even.
-
I got an ebay $39 (+$30 shipping ouch)
Wasn't the best $70 to spend, but ...
-
Ouch! :o
Schucks had 'em for $34... no shipping. (A 4 day wait, though.)
It's funny how they price those. Other FLAPS had 'em priced from $40, up to the dealer pricing. (One junk yard wanted $95 for a used fender. <g>)
-
yea ... was a newb expense. I know better now :(
