Well I was a tuner guy, then a domestic guy, i've owned cars from Honda CRX's to Chevy Cavaliers, to Pontiac Firefly's, to Ford Mustangs, but I just last week bought my first 4x4.. a 1994 geo tracker 2 dr. hardtop. i know how to handle my 4x4s offroad and all that jazz, i've just never worked on a 4x4 or modified one.
First off, I found this gem a few hours away for $800. it has 178,000 KMs on it, body was in great shape other than one little spot(now fixed), and it needed an inspection. I put a muffler on it and now she is inspected and looks sharp. love the removable top btw.
my question is..
what should i do first? i'm on a tight budget, but i want to start preparing it for the occasional offroad adventure. my adventures usually end up in a mudhole or way back in the woods, so i need some clearance, and i definately need to get every bit of power possible out of this little thing.
it has stock suspension(replaced oem last year so its in great shape), and a set of 215 wild country tires, they work well on it for now.. but i want to lift it and get some 235s or 30s at least.
what do you guys have for advice to gain some power and some more clearance?
first mods are going to be a custom pushbar w/ lights and a custom skidplate. This is also going to be my daily driver, to and from college (60km every day) so i have to preserve some gas.
suggestions...? i've only ever made a car lower.. not higher.. :D

On a budget huh? Welcome to my world ;D Talk to jeff1997 he makes coil spacers. Get 1.5in for the front and 2in for the rear...it will give you 2in of equal lift. 235s will fit fine with that but may wanna put a small bodlylift on for 30s...or you could go the cheap route and trim the fenders...

what did you pay for the spacers, and how hard are they to put on?
what other things do you have to change to put them on? new shocks/struts?
-
Basic formula for 235's or 30's:
Front
-1.5" Spacer
-Flip upper Strut mount for more downtravel
-Grind out upper strut mount holes for alignment after spacer
Rear
-2" Spacer
-New shocks (90's Crown Vic LX shocks or Ford Econoline shocks are board favorites)
All in all, the parts should run in the neighborhood of like maybe 80 bucks total. The rear is easy as pie to lift, the front kinda sucks because of the stiff as hell springs in the IFS but Its do-able with the right tools.

Here's a thread I put together of my friends install, as well as mine.

My combo spacer set, 2-1.5" and 2-2" will cost you $80. That price includes shipping to US, add $5 for Canada. And welcome to the forum, the guys on here know everything about Suzuki's and alot about everything else!!

i took a few measurements, i have a set of 25% 31" bf goodrich mud terrains here on ford 5 bolt rims, which would bolt right on.. i would have about an inch or 2 of clearance on either side of the tire from my fenders.. which clearly isnt enough, but would some 235's go on with no modification?

the "formula" above will clear your 31's if ya don't mind some fender trimming. A 2" BL would probably also get them to clear with more minimal fender mods.
