Ok I asked this question a few years back and never got a definitive answer. It seems like it’s a good question because the answers I got were 50/50 down the middle that this was perfectly fine to do….or mechanically bad to do.
So I’m looking to get the facts. I have a 95 Tracker I want to do the Calmini 2� suspension lift, and then put in 1.5� coil spring spacers to give it nearly 4� of total lift. I’m assuming since the Calmini comes with drop arms that position the suspension properly to handle the lift, that adding spacers to that lift would be as harmless as adding them to a stock suspension. I really honestly plan to only do moderate off-roading and probably that will only consist of 15 to 20% of my driving. This really is mostly my Daily Driver, and I’d like it to have that meaner stance a lift can give these guys.
I really can’t stress enough how much I really don’t want to do a body lift, I want my bumpers and loathe the thought of have to hunt down a fab shop that can design and make new mounting brackets for my stock bumpers. So suspension is the only way for me.
Any help guys would be awesome; I’d like to do this before summer ends. Is this setup feasible, and realistic?

I would drop the spacers to 1 inch. After 3 inches your going to have a hard time getting the front tires from cupping. To get further than 3 inches you need to change a lot of little things.

as mike said you cant really go more than 3" without affecting your alignment and also it is very hard on the cv shafts.

I did just what you are describing on my 91 2 door and although it worked well enough with lots of tweaking to the steering and a rear A arm spacer not to mention custom strut spacers with a flip of the mount. I did suffer from lots of broken cv's as the angle is a bit harsh. I would agree with Mike on sticking to 1" spacers for the best operation.

1inch in the front but 1.5inch in the back should balance out alright

I can make the 1" and the 1.5" spacers. $75 will get you 2 of each shipped to your door.

But doesn't the Calmini kit address all of the issues that your bringing up; thus having the CV shafts at an almost stock angle before adding the spacers? Once he adds the spacers the CV shaft angles would be no greater that if he didn;t have the Calmini kit, right? Or am I way off base here?
of course, I'm still driving a stock 'kick so I have no idea.

See That's exactly what I was thinking. I just assumed the calmini kit would be a wash.

I am in the process of installing the Calmini 3 inch body lift right now. You dont have to lose the stock bumpers or do any fancy fabrication, it comes with the hardware to raise them up. I had to make a couple little brackets for the bottom of the back bumper, it only took a few minutes.

I had the Calmini 2 inch kit before the 3 inch was available. I tried to get additional lift using longer springs and spacers. I ran into major CV problems. The drop brackets on the 2 inch kit do not drop the axle very far. If I was buying a kit again I would never buy the 2 inch kit especially if I wanted more lift than that. The 3 inch kit is the only way to go. My 3 inch kit with the Hagen widening has a 3/4" spacer to correct the camber I would guess that I am around 4 inches of lift in the front.
