Hey, my 92 sidekick 8v 2dr auto has developed a weird miss at all rpms, well not really a miss, but more like a stutter. or something like that. i have gone over everything that i can think of, i have changed the plugs, wires, cap rotor, checked the timing belt, the bottom crank pully key, the egr valve. and still nothing, it got so bad one day that it killed the motor completely, and it would not restart. the compression is 160,160,160, 170.
Does anyone have any idea of other things that i can check that would cause the problem?
sometimes when i start to accelerate it seems like it just wants to die, and boggs.
the only think that i know of that needs fixing at the moment is the heater core, but i doubt that would cause this problem
any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

Have you changed the fuel filter? You should also check all the vacuum lines for holes ar blockages.
-
compression test.

Check the throttle position sensor (TPS). My swift was acting all strange recently, and it was because the TPS wasn't adjusted correctly. I think the PO had screwed around with it and got it out of whack.

Sounds like either water in the gas or a plugged fuel filter have you changed the fuel filter at the gas tank?

i have already checked all the vacume lines, and found one that had a little hole in it, didnt make any difference at all. i have also done a compression test and everything seemed fine there also. i have not change the fuel filter yet, and will try that today or tomorrow.
thanks for the great advise guys, hopefully it will be fixed soon.

nope, not the fuel filter ???

hey i have a similer problem with my 94 2door 8v tracker. Dose it only do it after awhile of driving cuz thats what mine dose and it has died on me befor
-
well it seems to have a little miss right away, but when it did die, it was after about 20 minutes of driving. it really has me stumped.

Have you tried to run a healthy dose of injector cleaner through it? You might also try to spray a bit of combustion chamber cleaner into the air intake with the engine running at 2k rpm. Also you may want to adjust the valves as they might be out of adjustment

ok, i have gotten rid of the miss now, but a new problem is that it seems to be lacking power above 3K rpms (not good for going up hills) and sounds like its being restricted a bit when you put your foot into it.
any ideas on that.

do you think the timing belt could be off one notch? would that do it?
seems to run nice now otherwise
