Hey all,
I'm tryin to order OME suspension parts, and I thought I had it all figured out. Then I went down to 4 wheel parts and talk to the guys down there. The configuration I want is for lwb Track/Kick, (mostly because OME 959 offers a tiny bit more height from the spring, vs. 953). My question is, what is the difference between swb and lwb? I have dug up measurements (457mm in the front and 480 rear for swb) (455mm front and 460 rear for lwb) from Zuwharrie. Well my Tracker doesn't fit either of those measurements LOL. I get 457 mm in the front and 469 mm in the rear. (measuring from center of hubcap to top of wheelwell.) Not sure how that defines "wheel base" anyways. I guess, bottom line, will it make any difference OME partwise if I were to order lwb springs and my truck was a swb? Would they not seat correctly? or something else stupid like that? thanks for the help.

lwb and swb should be the same as to putting the parts on. John1974 uses 3in boondox lift coils meant for an lwb on his swb so i dont think there should be a problem

really? with only 2mm in the front and 20mm in the rear difference? that's 0.0788 inches in the front and 0.787999 etc. in the rear.

In general, LWB springs put into a SWB truck will provide more lift.

Got it figured out. I emailed Michael Tomzyack at ARB and he confirmed the '96 4 door is a long wheel base. I kinda figured that, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the responses guys.

Ah I think I understand your question now. All 4 doors are LWB, all 2drs are SWB. The wheel base is the distance between the centre of the front wheel hub and the centre of the back wheel hub.

it is not the extra length that causes the problem,it is the springs rate and capacity,especially if it is a progressive spring.

LWB = Long Wheel Base (4-Door)
SWB = Short Wheel Base(2-Door)

The reason for different springs is the difference in weight! The 4 door is obviously heavier. Therefore it requires a stiffer spring rate. So when you put LWB springs into a SWB the springs won't sag as much creating some "lift".

Hey mike,
You down at the Seattle ARB? I wanted to swing in and pick it up tonight, but with the M's playing and the n 5 construction, plus being a Friday I settled for waiting until Mon. (long 3 day wait LOL). Are you anywhere near will call? The sky body lift came in today as well, so I am pumped!!
