Title: Tracker sputtering when stopped?
Post by: BOOSTN on November 25, 2004, 01:40:21 PM
Hey all,

My tracker just started doing this funny "bucking" the other day when I was a stop light.

I was sitting there and all of a sudden it starts to buck, like it wants to shut off? I put it in neutral, hit the gas, and she seems to be fine. Next light same thing. It seems to be doing this evertime now.

Is this a sign of something needing to be changed? or something going on my tracker?

It's a '92 4x4 auto. Any suggestions as to what it may be? or what I could try changing out?

Thanks again!

So you "put it in neutral, hit the gas, and she seems to be fine".  Do you put it back in Drive or leave it in Neutral for the rest of the time you're at the light?

Have you done normal tune up items recently; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, PCV?  How about the air and fuel filters?  What's the idle speed in Park?  In Drive?  Any hesitation under other conditions?

Oh, and Welcome  :)

I have had the plugs changed and air filter. Other than that nothing. Im thinking once I do the tune up I should be good.

Thx again for eveyone's help!

just because u did plugs even 5 miles ago doesnt mean u shouldnt pull them out to do a visual inspection

i cant tell u how many of my friends spend alot of money only to find out one of their plugs puked and electrode.

remember they come in small boxs that can be dropped easily so it pays to double check them. esp if u got the bosh +4s lol

wait a minute... I'm running Bosch +4's and have been for over a year... They seem to work great... what kind of problems are you talking about?

I have seen and heard of people that actually didn't get a wire snapped back on a new plug tight enough, shit happens.
