Title: upgraded brakes
Post by: cincy_kick on August 12, 2007, 08:15:55 AM
I just put 4dr front brakes on my 2dr. It was not as bad a I thought it would be. Had to do some trimming on the back shield to make the brackets fit. Since my brakes were crap before I dont know how big a difference this will make. Now I figure it is ready for a 2" spacer lift(which Jeff will send as soon as paypall gets him the money, and I have had great luck with in the past) then the bigger tires are going on. I should have enough brakes to stop from 80mph on the highway, which was my biggest worry.

The brake upgrade makes a big difference in how the truck stops. The brakes have better heat dispersion due to the vented rotor. Once you have broken in the new pads you will feel the difference.

I need to do this as I noticed a big difference in  braking when I went to larger tires!  Let us know how it goes!

I should have the lift and the bigger tires in two to three weeks. I will keep updating. I had a bango fitting leaking I found last night. a couple of new crush washers fixed that.

If anyone is thinking of doing this, a guy on Ebay sells zinc'd, drilled rotors for about $60 a pair, and get this, they are stamped "Brembo" right into the rotor edge.

Yup, drilled Brembo rotors for $30.
