anyone else have any issues with these things?? im on my 2nd set in less than 6 months of driving the thing and their already leaking.....these are the crown vic shocks....part #5961

Did you lower the bump stops when you installed the shocks? The Shocks will bottom out on full compression damaging the internals and seals. Causing leaks. Does this make sense?
If you put a longer shock in the same range of bump as a shorter one, the shock will bottom out before the bump stop will, because the shock body is longer. This is especially noticable on extreme flex, when one side will be completely compressed.

yup, i extended the bumpstops 2" to compensate for my 2" spacers

I hate to say it, but I have heard from several people that monroe sensa trac shocks are flawed in their design. I personally haven't run them in any rigs of mine, but from the boards there have been a few guys saying how crappy they were. I don't mean to be a downer, sorry.

I run the plain blue monroe shocks and have had no problems at all on any of my vehicles
-
I'v never liked monroe shocks or struts , And I sell the darn things
Kyb or bilstein are nice
-
I have the Gas-Matic shocks with a 1.5" lift and I think they are leaking a bit, but I have bottomed them out pretty hard and I never lengthened the bumpstops.

thank goodness for the lifetime warranty on 'em....they arent too bad to change.....ill just have to keep an eye on em, and change them for free when they start leakin

yepp ;)

canadian tire when ordering monroe shocks always order 5 at a time since they are defective from the factory. this was told to me by canadian tire but since they have the warranty they don't care that they know the shocks are crap. i like the idea of a multi valve system.

me too....just by workin the shock by hand you can actually feel them, its really weird....is there any benefit to this??

what the auto adjusting valve is suppose to do is if you go over little bumps then it is softly valved to soak them up and when you hit a real big bump the valve adjust to a firmer setting and controlls the wheel hop. dad has them on his 2500 gmc converted van and he said they are ok but it takes a few bumps b4 they adjust. rancho rsx series also has the auto valve. there are a few different manufacturers that use it. bilstein are they best in my opinion but that is the money part aswell.

ya, i didnt wanna fork out that kinda money on my beater vehicle, and i used to work at an autoparts store that sold them, so i got a discount....and they were right on the shelf, so i didnt have to order them like i did the bilsteins
-
discounted and available that is how i like them parts

Did you check that that was enough? The shocks may have much longer bodies than the stock shocks. You should pull the springs and then raise the rear axle to see if the shocks compress fully before the bumpstops are reached. I guess you could measure it but if you're changing the shocks anyway its no biggy to whip the springs out.

yes, before i put it all back together i checked to make sure that the bumpstops were bottoming out before the shocks were, and they did, so im just thinking that there may be a flaw in these shocks....i replaced them april 17th, and it sat since the last weekend in april because the motor was toast, maybe because it sat for awhile the seal stuck to the shaft and started leaking?? the shaft wasnt even dirty or rusty, so im at a total lack of ideas as to whats up with them, and it was only the drivers side that was leaking, the right side was fine....i also noticed when i exchanged the shocks that the design of the upper tube was a bit different, much smaller diameter....maybe there was a issue with the quality or design or something, and they changed it a bit....both were same part #'s stamped into the tubes, but the batch #'s were different on the boxes that i kept from my old ones compaired to the new #'s....
