I broke my 2nd mirror off in the woods recently and didn't have the $$$ needed to replace it with a junkyard direct replacement(they are charging too much for parts these days...). At Walmart, I found screw on, swing-away style mirrors for $7 each, universal left or right. I mounted one just below where the stock mirror was and plan to cover the stock mirror's location with a trim plate. The mirror is a little smaller than stock, but works fine and will fold flat against the window if needed. I'll post some pics tomorrow, too dark to take them tonight.

Hell, I just took mine off!
-
Mine folds in if I hit anything.

i run mirrors off an older S-10, they fold almost flat with the window

Manufacturer's Championship was who? Wasn't Ford :P Busch can drive the wheels off any car it doesn't matter that he 'currently' drives a Ford ;) Still he isn't my favorite driver but he was consistent and ummm....what's the word...er...um...LUCKY ;)

Sure there are good Ford parts, 80's F-150 and fullsize bronco rims are a good example! They fit our rigs! LOL!
-
eww gawd .. yer right ... I'm going to be using furd rims :)

I just unbolt my mirrors when I think they are at risk. There is only 3 screws holding them on. Several times during the UA I had my mirrors off. On page 52 of the november Issue you can see in the photo the mirror was off. Good thing too cause I was about 1/8 inch away from the paint on the door. :P

Guess Matt Kenseth was just lucky too. ::) ;D

Where was his luck this year ;)

I guess it was the same place as 41 other drivers. ;D

Well, after actually driving with the $7 Walmart mirror, I don't like it. It's got a warp in it that distorts the image and it needed the tension cranked down just to keep the wind from pushing it down on the road. Plus it's smaller than stock. I guess I'll just go get another stock mirror from the junkyard and try to remember to take them off when I go into the woods... I just hate to do that because I actually USE the mirrors, even offroad. I guess that comes from driving an ambulance for many years; you HAVE to use the mirrors in an ambulance because you can't see out the back window.

I thought he had a shot at it but man did his luck turn in those last 5 races....

hey neil i know of a 93 tracker with everything supposedly ok on it and the guy wants 300 bucks for the whole thing. maybe if u wanted the mirrors u can lend some loot and ill put the rest and we can buy the whole thing. i need the doors and hood, u can have the mirrors and if we need any parts ill have everything taken otu of it. it'll be crushed basically just a shell with wheels. nothing in it. and nothing drive just a tub on wheels. i can use the tie-rod adjustment sleeves too :) if your interested definately let me know. i really need the doors because my window on the drivers side has no weather seal anymore and they are like 55 bucks a piece at the dealership and i can probably just use the whole door for the regulator and everything else :) let me know man
-
Well, I just picked up another junkyard mirror and with the holidays, I'm not too sure I can swing much $$$ right now. Plus I have no more room to store another non-running rig....
I could use the grille though...
-
lol i can crush the tbub i just need some parts
-
Well, I can use a grille and either one of us could use the axleshafts and cv shafts for spares... even the diffs if they are there... The rims can be sold off since neither one of us need them and any other parts we don't want/need can be ebay'ed off...
I'm in. Shoot me an email and we'll figure out the $$$
-
well i was figuring if we went in on it together. we could strip the whole thing down to basically fenders, body cavity, and the wheels *so it cna be easily put onto a rollback* i can get it crushed for free :D but exactly like you said we'll have spare everything. he said the only thing wrong with it is the engine only firing on 3cyls but everything else works good. if your interested ill go bug him for a test drive and looksie and figure out what i can

Just keep in mind, if there are only 3 cylinders firing, then it's probably valves... I picked up a $100 Tracker, swapped a head that I had lying around, and it runs now. :)

Hmmm... yeah, go for a test drive... it might be an easy fix like a plug, wire or distributor cap/rotor. If that's the case, we could keep it more or less whole(minus the parts we need for our front-line rigs), putting our less desireable parts on it for a woods-only rig... Think of the possibilities!
-
ok ill go talk to him hrmmm probably monday night then. it would be nice to have all those spare parts ;D
