I have read several posts about swapping a 1.6 kick motor into a Samurai and retaining the carburetor system that are stock with the Sammie. Has anyone done a Sammie carburetor swap onto a 1.6 in a Sidekick? I suppose that the Fuel injection on the 1.6 would not be compatible on a Samurai but how would it affect the computer system on a Sidekick? Just curious.

The Sammy carb is much smaller then a 1.6 carb, I think you would lose a lot of power. I have retained the 1.3 setup in my pickup on a 1.6 engine but only as a temporary measure, ultimately it will go to FI.
If you were to fit a carb on an injection motor I would think that you would have to fit a 1.3 dizzy and coil. I would expect the ECU to go into limp mode because it will see (not see?) the missing FI parts as major faults. I doubt if the emissions control stuff would work either so that could give you problems at inspection. You would also need a low pressure fuel pump. On some models the rev counter appears to be driven from the ECU so that could be another problem.
