everything looks at though it'll clear, but maybe the rear of the front fenders need more of a trim, as i think the front tyres will touch when turning and when the sus compresses a bit.

back looks fine and doesnt seem to need a trim, except when the tyre is at full compression, the top of the guard and lip might touch. i wont be able to find out until i get my gbox and clutch in.

i can't wait to get my vit back up and running, i'm just too damn excited with the new found ground clearance.

although i do know i need to settle down a bit on the new 33"s, as i dont really have a stock-pile of front CV's or steel housings.

we'll have to see how it goes when i get back from holidays in august. *sigh*

thanks guys, some of you's make me laugh sometimes.

anyway, my vits not working, and i dont think it'll be for at least another month. recovering from purchase of 33"s. and i will be overseas next month for a month, so that doesn't help.

theres still a bit of work to do, like, get a descent clutch kit, and put the gearbox back up. (no crawler gears yet unfortuneately, but will be higher up on priorities list when i get back)

then i have to sort the rear of the chassis out, and fit the fuel tank back up.

then i have to make a airbox/filter system for my weber carby. running open filters is great when its dry and not dusty, but its quite the opposite here where i am. AUSTRALIA

then, she should be up for rego when all the above is done, then a test drive, and then some guard cutting to accomodate.

hi sikid_01, what diff gears r u running to go with your 33's?

m looking for other options besides calmini's out-of-stock 5.83's. maybe you guys have some secret down under that we don't know of  ;D

Gears, what gears? I think I smell clutch  ;D ;D

nope, no gears, just standard 5.125:1 diff ratios. and a crusty 1.8:1 low range.

on the 31"s, everything was good, except for some medium-core rocks where the clutch went. so i gotta keep myself from the rocks, and stay in the mud.

i was even considering taking out the vit transfer, and just using a sierra/sammy tranfer, as they have a lower low range already, AND it is way cheaper and esier to get crawler gears for them, AND you can get high range reduction too.

hmm, what about using the sammy gear box and transfer? will i be down grading to a sammy box? or are they the same? if i do, i think i might need to cut the tranny tunnel up for it to fit?

i'd love for a dual case set up, but it will cost too much and may not be as good in a swb. a kicker set up will be ideal, but not cheap.

i'm just going to keep all gearing stock for now, until i get all the other stuff done and out of the way, then i will start to look at gearing seriously.

i will start shopping for gearing or solutions in about 6-10 months. but if i find something sooner, i'll let you guys know.

and if anything, we get a little ripped off down under, never any of the good stuff, like the diesels etc etc. oh well.

well, thats about it. nothing special really. i guess its a build up in progress. but i am the only lifted vitara on 33"s in my state!

cheers guys,
Steve

Hey SiKiD,

I'm going to install a sammy t-case behind my vit trans, this will be too much gearing down for highway driving (even with 33"s) So I might put on some Auto R&P's too but I'll try the sammy t-case first, in about 6-10 months like you  ;D I know chief is busy with this but doesn't have enough time on his hands to finish it. If you don't want to make a backing plate for your original trans you could go with a 2wd tracker trans..... I might go that way or make a backing plate. We'll see. ;D

hi ben, (i think thats ur real name)

i have never seen a 2wd vit in aus before, so that option is out of the question.

i would love dual transfer cases with a sammy on the back of the kick one, but i'm not sure if theres room or not. i'd love to have a kicker set up, but there's no way i can afford one, unless theres one going for cheap, or if some one is australia either makes one, or makes a custom cradle for the extra sammy case.

well, let me know how yours go, i'll be waiting.

thanks
Steve

Jup, that's my real name  ;) the 2wd cases are also very  rare here in europe but I managed to find a company that has a few, not cheap like 800 euro's ('bout the same in USD). And I'd also like dual cases but being a SWB like yours that'll be pretty hard to set up correctly, and a kicker is way over my budget too  ;D.
I'll try to make a write up of it if I think enough of making pic's. First I'll have to find someone to help me over here  ;D. You'll certainly hear how it goes and what probs I had  ;)
