Title: Dome light upgrade
Post by: Cuthulu on September 02, 2007, 11:01:27 AM
Being that the stock dome light looks akin to a sickly firefly I had to upgrade it.  What I used here can be found under the hood of a GMC/Chevy mid 90's pickup.  You can grab one from Pick and Pull for about 10 bucks (I stole mine from my old company pickup right before they laid us off).  The pics illustrate the over all coolness and it does not have one of those Mercury switchs.  Also if you widen the exsiting holes on either side of the light it will mount right up to where the two snap screws are next to the factory light.  I even used the same screws over.  BTY the cord measures 22' for the curious.

Sorry meant to post two more pics.  :P  BTY if anyone knows the color code for this I would love to know I've got a couple of rub spots from the top from the previous owner.

That's awesome if you have a hard top.  you need to post how much brighter it is with some night time shots.

Night shots, gotcha.  That will be tomarrow as I'm working tonight and at work right now.  So are those two snaps mission critical for soft tops?

Critical?
well yes and no.  For bikini tops pretty much yes.  And you could do without them on a full soft top, but on highyways the top will "bubble up" so to speak.  It's a very cool idea though.  the stocker light is nearly worthless anyway.
