My Tracker is doing fine, but I am thinking about the future. If your trucklet was beyond reasonable repair where would you find a another one cheap? I see them on e-bay pretty cheaply, but buying sight unseen is a big risk.

If mine would be beyond reasonable repair I'd buy another one (maybe parts car). And build 1 out of 2, so I'd still have one with the same spec's but cheaper than one that's completely okay ;D

I watched ebay for a long time and NEVER saw any really cheapy ... in the last 30 days, 7 went for less than $1500, and only 3 for $1000 or less.
And something somewhat local to me never came under 1500.
I eventually found something nearby from autotrader.com ... I'm looking for the $500 parts car too, and may start looking at public auto auctions (i.e. where dealers dump tradeins)

dig deep into classifyed(sp) adds and look at small and big wrecking yards, also just try driveing around in the country to find old beater parts rigs.(you never know what you may find ;))

;DI found my Tracker after looking for a Sammy or Trackick to rebuild as a DD. I just kept telling friends what I was looking for and one guy remembered a Buddy with a dead Tracker, $300.00 later I had it. The Eng. was toast so I got a rebuild and then it started. Now it NEEDS a lift, cage(got it just need to install), bumpers etc. This little guy is a kick off road. I would look around locally, papers are helpful but ask around auto parts stores, clubs etc.

There is a local used car sales lot down the street from that has no less then 8 Trackers and Sidekicks from various model years for sale! I see people scoping them out all the time.

Word of mouth has gotten me a couple of parts trucks (one running, one not). I say classifieds and just drive around town looking for cars in people's yards for sale. :-/

Keith,
I see you're in Illinois... ...There is one for $2036 on the lot at the local Saturn dealer. (Rt 14 west of Barrington) These trucks seem to be pretty plentiful right now, but their numbers are dwindling.
If I were seriously looking, I'd go to autotrader.com and be willing to go about 100 miles for a good one.
Your truck looks familiar... ...Did we meet on the yellow trail at Attica when the guy broke his steering (rag joint)?

Yes, we did meet there.  Were you in front of me in the Green Tracker?  I'm not looking for another truck now just wondering what I would do if my tranny or engine were ever to go.  Knock on wood, but my Tracker is running pretty good now.

Yes, we were in front of you in the green '96.

Jeez... I paid $CDN 4,000 for my '88 Samurai. A typical price around here for one in good condition. They're in demand but everyone wants a deal. The local wreckers have exactly zero in the yard at any given time.
