Alright, I tried searching, but I suck at that as I know that this has been covered before...
Anyway, what year GM alternator do I need to get that will wire right up to my Tracker?

I'm considering the same upgrade ...
I'd suggest you read up on these links
http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/remotevoltagesensing.shtml
http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/onewire-threewire.shtml
http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/delcoremy.shtml
(they are sorta long, but very good info)
The first 2 links deal with the "1 wire versus 3 wire" issue. To me, wiring in a 3 wire won't be very hard (and the benefits make sense ...)
The last link describes the delco-remy alternators, and near the bottom has some "applications" you can request at the parts counter. I'm thinking a 12SI, 94 amp, is probably what I'm going with.
My biggest question has to do with the mounting. I think the stock mount can be modified to work (but might need some strengthening). Another option is to get a sammy bracket from Roadless Gear at $40 or RRO at $45. I believe I read that minor mods will allow this bracket to be used on the "big blocks"
Here's some more links ... (samurai specific)

Don't do it the extra amps you get out of it aren't worth it you can't drown these suckers ;D I did this swap back in the spring the alt held up for a month and half and then ??? ??? no juice noisey bearing and junk the stock zuk alt is way more durable IMHO
Make It Hert!!! ;D

Did you "1 wire" or "3 wire"?
Also, what kinda alt did you go with?
My reasons for more juice are ...
lights
winch
electric rad fan
CB (possibly stereo amp)
I'd run dual batteries isolated, with the isolated battery for winch, lights, stereo/CB.

Take it to an automotive electric shop and get the alt re-wrapped and have them crank it up to a 85 amp alt . I used an outfit named Pasco of Easton, 8538 Ocean Gtwy Easton, MD 21601-7152, Phone: (410) 820-7111 -CZ
