Title: Correct Paint For Grill
Post by: Ira on September 06, 2007, 07:07:58 AM
Is this stuff okay to paint the grill a flat black?  (www.dupli-color.com)

DA 1605 Flat Black

And just sand with fine paper and spray, or do I need any of their primers?

I tell ya if the grille is plastic, which I am sure it is.  I used the spraypaint thats for plastic.  That stuff looks good, and last long... makes the grille look like new. I did not sand mine, I just took it off washed her up real good..

If your grill is already painted, you could lightly sand with 400 wet/dry or lighter. Sand just enough to take the shine away. I painted my old one flat black before with tremclad, turned out good.

What's Tremclad?

And John, which paint there is for PLASTIC?

I was very happy with the Dupli-Color that I used for vinyl (made the sun visors flat black), so I fugured I would stick with the brand.

must be a canadian brand  ::)

it's just cheap $3.99 rust paint ;)
I've used dupli-color too, but it cost twice as much.  The paint for plastic is good for bare shiny plastic, and it's flexible, since most grills are already painted, and don't move much like a bumper cover, I think you'd be fine without it.

DITTO.Flexible paint and primer is awesome stuff, but your grill is rigged enough for it to not be necessary. They do however give a better more natural apperance compared to regular paint.
