Title: No Start.
Post by: ghd23 on September 06, 2007, 04:41:44 PM
Hi All.

To start with, I'm usually pretty good when it comes to figuring out any problems with my Trackers. Not this time!
I need help. Its my wife's DD, 1991 Tracker 2wd, 5 speed. It has always been hard to start in the rain, but once started it always ran like a champ.  Well 2 weeks ago after a good rain it started, I ran it for about 6 blocks, shut it off and it never started again.
After checking all the usual suspects, I changed the fuel filter and it started right up, it ran better than ever. Drove it for 3 days, put about 100 miles on it. then it just shut off at a stop light. Hasn't started since.
I'm thinking ECM.  Any and all thoughts are eagerly welcome.

  Thanks Ahead, George.

Go pour a little gas down the t.b.i. and see if it runs for a sec or two.

I'm thinking ignition switch because it happens when it's humid out. It would be intermittent but would only happen in moist conditions at first and then eventually fail. I live in a humid area so I have had this problem on two or three older vehicles. You might just try swapping a good used one in. I don't know if the old sammy ones work but I have one. Changing the fuel filter is good but the fact that it started right up might have only been a coincidence.
