Just completed the last battle of the spark knock. Took it to a second dealer and was told "As far as we're concerned, there is no problem". Won't recount the whole dialog but suffice it to say, they said its a fuel issue and that I should try another brand. Seems they forgot the copies of fuel receipts I provided that disprove their asinine logic.
Calls to ASMC have gone unreturned. No contact from the DM on this. Basically, I was told to get lost. So be it.
I have a 4-sale sign in the window, KBB says I can get 10K selling it outright. If not, I'll trade it to a dealer and get a Toyota provided they can at least they give me what I owe.
State inspection is due and I will take care of that so I can get rid of it asap.
Too bad things had to work out this way but now I know that Suzuki does not stand behind their products. I think Yankee Tim once described their 3-5-7 plan as .22 (as in too little too late). I am inclined to agree with him. Its plainly obvious I don't rate as a valued customer. That's ok. Without having to leave my town, I can cover over 60% of the new vehicle model available. So I won't go without a decent vehicle that's for sure.
Bottom line, Suzuki doesn't need me and I sure as sh*t don't need them.
Good luck to all. I probably won't be back here after I get rid of this vehicle.

See if your new car dealer will throw in an anger management course. ;)

hamster, i totally agree if i had a new vechilce and didnt get any warnty or anything i would 86 that thing so quick

???What consumer groups have you contacted? GM used to treat people poorly but it caught up with them now they train everyone to be helpful. The change came from pressure and loss of sales, not that they would ever admit most of this. I understand dumping the ZUk and getting a toyota, I did the same with an S10 GM replaced with a full size Blazer that was a bigger POS. Good Luck. PS my family sells GMs I'm kind of a black sheep.
-
That really blows. Too bad they treat customers that way when they have problems :-/
Personally, combined with your experience and the new Suzuki line-up, I doubt I'll ever get any new Suzuki :-/
Best of luck with whatever vehicle you get as a replacement, man! :)
-
Well I say put the worst gas you
can find in it, then drive the $#!+
out of it and blow the motor, then
something will have to be done
;D
That is provided it's still under warrantee
Good Luck,
Wild

Thats all so sad to hear about.
Can't really say anything that hasn't already been said.
Best of luck to ya and don't forget the little people, Every Now and again say Howdie.
We'll still talk to ya no matter what you get. ;)

Today my "new" 01 left the family. I decided that for driving to work 40 miles each way I really didn't want to have to drive a short wheelbase truck every day. I traded it back for a sedan. But I still have the 90 for when I feel like driving it or wheeling.
-
I'm sorry to hear that Sam Ham... But being in the customer service industry myself, I completely understand your frustration. I hope you have better luck with Toyota, their suppose to have the best CS on the planet.
Take care man.

I totally agree with Mike71 you don't need to leave this group, hey I won't and I have plans to sell my truck for the second time, don't ask long haunting story... maybe I just pissed off the Zuki-Gods any how this will be my next venture. The bike not the girl!!! Besides for some strange reason the state of Maryland will allow me to drive this and yet won't allow me to drive a car or truck. Traded it today for a Corolla. GOt $7400 for the zukie, 150 less than what I owed. I knocked the Corolla price down to 14,755 plus 500 rebate. Overall, pretty pleased with the deal.
The zuke actually was an ok rig to drive. Just severe spark knock along with two non responsive dealers plus a non responsive DM combined to kill any enthusiasm I had for it. WHile I did have it, it was fun to drive, got me where I wanted to go and did it w/.o too much drama. But the spark knock was baaaaaaaad. TOday, I was scared they'd drive it and notice it but all they did was start her up and check the lights. Whew!
So bottom line, I had to do what I had to do. I knocked 2% off the interest rate, lowered payments to $200/month, meaning if I lose my decent paying job, I can be a shift manager at Taco Hell and still afford the car.
I'll drop by off and on. I'll keep tabs on Hagen and his flying rig! ;D

Yea , Im with these guys, dont be a stranger. Im not real fond of the new lineup either. I guess 98 will be as new as I go. :'( Well Im not too upset, I kinda like this body style. I was kinda hoping to wheel a new bodystyle in a couple of years but Im not so sure now.

Stick with your rig mike. My assumption is that both dealers and the DM saw some $$$ in time and parts and figured hey, if we stonewall this guy, he'll giveup and come see us after the warranty and then we can make some money!
I narrowed it down to main timing chain tensioner (there's a bit of rattle at cold start) and or lifters sticking in the bores. In either case, it would necessitate a major teardown to verifiy one or the other. And they weren't willing to do that. I also suggested they throw on a knock sensor to see if the OEM one was defective. Nope. No codes, no replacie parts. Ah so.......very very sad!
Hell at least if they made an attempt at something, I would have met them halfway. But naw, they preferred to blow me off so guess what ASMC? I sure as hell don't need you'uns! 8)
Oh well. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I licked my wounds, pride, and time and moved on. Life is too short and there are far too many choices of rides out there to be stuck with a rig that the dealers refuse to service. I guess ASMC sales are better than I thought; the must be doing well enough to afford to lose me as a customer. Can you say goodbye? I can and did! >:(
It'll be interesting to see if I even get a response to the nasty letter I sent to ASMC. Its a wonder the words didn't smoke on the page.

I also have two brand new rotors and brake pads I no longer need. Contact me for details.
-
mine has been knocking since I got it. tried everything to fix it, to no awail. well, had 173000 km on it. no a yer has passed, still knocks after many work and wheeling trips. Some severe beatings, too. So it knocks, I stopped caring. pretending it's diesel.
-
In the owners manual of a Dodge Van it said
"Some knock is normal and will not hurt
the engine", even tho the manual also
said 87 octane fuel is fine and higher
octane fuel is not needed.
My interpretation, we are too lazy
to fix our POS Dodge engine so it
won't knock, and we don't care because
not enough of them get damaged to
offset the cost of fixing the problem
:P

HEY!! you can't say that about Dodges, I own Dodges
It may be true
but we don't like to talk about it ;)
-
I'm not making this up,
I read it in the manual ;)
I just always look between the lines,
like the extended auto sale = we didn't
sucker sell enough of these cars so we
are giving you another chance to get one
;D
