Title: will a sami trany fit in a tracker?
Post by: dkevech on September 16, 2007, 10:36:57 AM
I have a question about a transmission i want to find out if a sami transmission will fit in a tracker. I want to do a motor swap and can get a sami transmission kinda cheap. and i just want to find out if it will work with little modification.

Physically you can make it fit.  But it won't bolt up to the 1.6.  Also you will need to replace your transfer case, as they Tracker has a married transfer case setup.

Married?  Does that mean they won't come apart?

there bolted togather... they will come apart, but to run it unbolted from a tranny it takes some brackets and some modds

best to stick with the tracker trans  ;)

In that case just swap the the whole drive train out and you would have better gearing options with the sammy t case.

Why would you want to swap out a 16v for the vwdiesel? Having the sammy t-case for better gearing options would be only thing you are getting out of this?

The vw diesel is a stronger engine than the 1.6 suzuki in more ways than one.
