Title: intake manifold brace
Post by: ExitLeft on September 19, 2007, 04:13:32 PM
I was replacing the trans on my '94 kick and removed the intake manifold brace to gain easier access to the starter bolts.  This brace bolts to the intake manifold with two 14mm bolts and then bolts to the passenger side motor mount with another 14mm bolt.  Well, now I can't get the damn brace back on.  All the hoses/wires are in the way and I just can't get the bolts to line up.  To be honest, I'm tired and frustrated and just don't want to screw around with this brace anymore.  Which brings me to my question:  Is this brace neccessary?  I'm sure that it helps support the weight of the manifold and prevent it from cracking; has anyone run their 8V 1.6L kick without this brace?   Just looking for personal experience here.

Mine's been off the engine for about four years now, have not looked for cracks though.
