broke my exhaust so instead of spending 100 bucks to fix it i figured id spend 200 and just buy a header and build my own system. wondering how this header is and what size pipe i should run for the exhaust
-
2" or 21/4" if you have a lot of bends.
-
Mine has worked well. Hes right with the pipe, mines got 2.5" to a flowmaster and 2" out and I'm sure it effects my torque in a big way and several other issues. But on the plus side it sounds awesome and can set off car alarms as I mull through the gears!!!! ;D 8)

so would be the best exhaust pipe to use i believe i have a 2 inch flow master muffler and should i use a cat? i dont need to pass emmisons
-
mines long gone ;D but tell anyone! I heard the mattress police were getting caught up on those removed tags and were being reassigned to start a nation wide search for cat removers!!! So watch out!!!!! ;D 8)

so i think im going to go straight back with some 2 inch to a flow master and thats it.... hows that sound will i have enough back pressure?
-
Yes, I tried a piece of 1 7/8" and was too small, was a major difference going to 2", you can mess with cam timing next for low end power. buy a pully or do the chevy key trick, cut a degree key in half and put it on the crank shaft.
-
whats the trick ive never heard of it?
-
ever mess with small block chevy's? take a woodruff key for a small block that has the top half shifted over to one side, depending on wich way you put it on the crank and how much shift you buy, try summit or jegs ect. and you have to cut it down in size to fit your much smaller crank shaft to move the bottom pully over just a little to change your cam timing, there is a two to one ratio with this so it does not move it as much as moving the top cam pully, if you do not understand it now you need to talk to some one localy that knows about engines a little bit more to see if that is what you want to do, mine is a big toy so it does not matter what I do to mine but maybe yours is your only rig and it has to get you to work or where ever,LOL have fun p.m. me if you have anymore q's.

Loved my DT headers, never bothered with the heat risers though. Figured it would lessen warm temp power. I used a glass pack Cherrybomb and 2 1/4" It had a pretty good ricer sound that I never loved. Used a 2 1/4 cat if you were really focused break up the honey comb catalyst but it won't fool the tail probe should you move or your local laws change.

ive actually decided to put a 4.3 into the samuari so i guess my header is up for sale.. has 1 mile on it how much should i ask ?
-
I'll start the bidding 2 $10.00 ;D
-
well i looked at my bank account and decided i cant really afford that right now (just spent 210 on this damn header) so im thinking of building a 1.6 motor for does anybody have any link to how to wire up a 16 valve 1.6 ?
-
As to you're question about the 1.6 16valve wiring Trail Tuff makes a plug and go harness. But its not cheap. It may be cheaper to do that 4.3 ;D I have a Thorley header and it works well through a 3 chamber Flowmaster and high performance cat. Its smog legal in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia too.

Have you seen how much a junked catalytic converter goes for as scrap?. to give you an Idea, someone on this forum I used to go on(tercel4wd.com) sold 2 very rusty tercel catalytic converters on ebay for $285. Its no wonder thieves are stealing them. The same goes for copper.
