Title: Losing coolant--no visible leaks
Post by: Ira on October 02, 2007, 03:15:47 AM
95, she goes about a month, all of a sudden runs hot, I check, and she's dry.

I put a new radiator cap on back when, and no luck. What's the next thing to check? Water pump?

Also, I'm pretty much running pure water now...

EDIT:

Any danger to running pure H2O right now if I add straight coolant from now on? No danger of freezing--south Florida.

Sounds like a head gasket to me.

Sounds like a head gasket to me.

Oh, please don't say that.

I just priced the set, no big deal there, but that's a heavy labor job, right?

Sorry Ira it sounds like a head gasket to me too :( :( I just had mine replaced 6 months ago. It would have cost me 800-1100 de pending on who did it. I know, OUCH!!!! Luckily my bro-in-law is a GM mechanic and he did that and replaced the timing chains, gears and gaskets for $400 total. Ship it up to IL and maybe he'll do it, LOL. Sorry to hear about it but good luck.
