Title: Pinion Angle?????

What is the max pinion angle for my 88. I'm in the middle of a 2.0 + auto trans swap and have run into a problem. The pinion angle for the rear diff is out of control. I used a 8 degree wedge to compensate but the drive shaft still wont come close. Can I use an additional 8 degree wedge without burning up the bearing. If an additional 8degrees doesn't work what is the max I can use? I would like a three piece u-joint but the 4 hundred dollar price tag is out of the question.

Unless you get a three-piece driveshaft (also known as a Toyota Front CV driveshaft), you will be tearing up U-joints and running with driveline vibrations!

I spent about $40 bucks for a used Toyota Double Cardan shaft, another 20 bucks for a u-joint rebuild kit (I didn't touch the DC end other than giving it thorough cleaning followed by grease) and about $80 bucks for a set of RatAdapters from http://www.rock4xfabrication.com/ (http://www.rock4xfabrication.com/).  Pointing the pinion directly at the DC joint with the pinion-end u-joint showing zero operating angle (while the suspension was supporting the truck) resulted in a smooth performing rear drivetrain on a SPOAed truck that I use as a daily driver.
