Title: Coil spacers on top of calmini 3in...
Post by: museboy07 on October 08, 2007, 06:34:17 PM
I'm thinking a 3/4in spacer in the front and a 1in spacers in the rear?  Any cv problems running this with the calmini 3in lift?  Any other problems with this setup?

The problem is going to be that the struts are going to top out. Which means that you are going to have no down travel in your front suspension. This can be kinda scarry when the inside front wheel lifts off the ground when you turn a corner.

Well combined with the calmini strut spacer and a flipped strut mount that shouldn't be a problem right?  Does anyone have a pic of the cv angles with a calmini 3in lift installed?

With all that and the 3 inch lift you do not have much down travel on the stock Calmini setup. Jack your truck up and measure.

On lil Suzy When I did the Hagen widening mod to the A arms it caused the Camber to change significantly I added 3/4" spacers to the front to correct the Camber and the OME struts were at the top of their travel. The springs were actually pulling on the strut, there was no down travel. I could not add the Calmini Extensions or do the strut cap flip because the CV's were at their maximum travel. I was able to get enough CV travel on the Passenger side by installing a CV from a Suzuki Sport Which is longer and allowed more travel. The one I got from Rock Auto used the 3 ball style of bucket like the Toy axles do and was deeper than any others I have seen. I am still working out the Drivers side. I have the Drivers side sport Axle but it is about 1/2" to long. It is longer than the passenger side axle. Because the passenger side axle has a deeper bucket than the Drivers side. What I am going to try next is  modifying a sport passenger side axle so it will fit the drivers side. I think based on my measurements that this will work and allow me to add the extra down travel to the drivers side.

have a look around here and zuwharrie, there's at least 2 guys running with 2inch spacers combined with their calmini lifts.  i agree that downtravel must be limited.

Well i think i'm gonna try it with the calmini strut spacers and a flipped mount.  If it don't work then i'll take them out...no big deal  ;D
