Title: air conditioning
Post by: ToK on October 10, 2007, 08:38:25 AM
Has anyone tried to install A/C in their trucks?  how difficult/expensive of a job is it?
I tried phoning a couple places, and they all tell me it'll be around $2k.
Winter's coming up, so I'd like to get it installed soon, if possible.   My windows get frosted up pretty bad, and I'm hoping the A/C will take the moisture out of the air to help.

I've never installed one or had one installed BUT I just had my compressor replaced two days ago on my Tracker at Meineke and it cost $950 for the compressor alone.  With the other parts required, wiring, $1600 to $2000 probably wouldn't be far off market value to have it done.

I don't know if this year tracker is the same, but with thw older trackers & sidekicks,  the a/c was installed at the dealership.  It's all components & everything connects rather easily if you are mechanically inclined.  If you can find one at a junk yard, preferably a pull it yourself yard, grab all the components & install it yourself.  I got all my components for $80.  I was just too lazy to put it in yet.  Maybe next spring.

$80 bucks!  That's a deal.
