Title: Book question lifter valve noise
Post by: andreroy on October 11, 2007, 07:52:22 PM
Hi, I was reading a Lemon-Aid book 2005 and I read in the Suzuki/Vitara/Tracker tips " Get rid of an annoying engine ticking noise by purging the air from the valve lifters".

That's the first time I heard about this;  does anyone actually really purge air?   what is the procedure?  Does it apply to my 1997 sports 1.8?

Thanks in advance.

The lifters in 1.6 engines are manual. There is no way to introduce air into the system. They do need to be properly adjusted periodically.
