Title: big tires ?
Post by: bioniconion on November 15, 2004, 02:21:28 PM
ok so i got my 4 inch body lift on and today i snagged some practically new *2k miles* general grabber m/t's for 200 bucks with the rims :D size 31/10.50/15 now i installed and i found out i had to trim the inside fender *lots of grinding on turns* so i finally cut and beat the hell out of it with a hammer and i don't grind into it anymore even on hard over turns...now it DOES grind when im going in reverse and making hard turns...im lost...why is it different in forward and reverse?  ???

Weight's transferred forward while driving in revers pushes the rear of the front wheel well into the tire? ???

wow u know..that's incredibly brilliant...lol i feel so stupid now..that makes perfect sense..when i put my lift on i never thought of that..=\ i feel dumb now..sounds logical enough to me..i guess as long as i am not reversing fast i shouldn't have this problem

Should break the habit of reversing fast once you go to larger tires... unless you like broken diff housings ;D

Did you remove the plastic fender liner ?
if not it might be rubbing also

Why's he parting it out? You can get an old Tracker with a bum engine for a hundred or two and nab the tranny out of that... or hit the pick and pull yards ???

Where are you at? I'll go 'wheelin with you! I actually think I might have seen you driving down 119 in Dunbar. I pulled up beside you in an ambulance just as the light went green...

I live in Indian Head, PA, right below 7 springs resort. I go up to Westco Highlands wheeling all the time. The club property is between Stahlstown and Youngstown on Bethel Church Road, about 5 miles from stahlstown(rte 711). We'll have to get together sometime! Tonight is not too good for me as I have my son tonight and have to work a 24 hour shift tomorrow, but shoot me an email or pm and we'll figure something out! Looking forward to it.
