Title: Strange motor problem
Post by: ed oorklep on November 15, 2004, 01:11:21 AM
Hey all

I experienced a problem today, my Vitara (not GV) drove like it had no elctrical power :o. As if the alt was broken, but i have replaced that thing 3 weeks ago or so  :-/
The radio went out and it started to drive as if it had no gas. But when I drove on (it did but not as fast and good as normal) After a few hundred yards it stopped again  ???  ???
Anyone having an idea what this could be  ???
Thanks for any help
Grtz Ben.

If the quality of the Alternator was
as bad as some I have bought here,
it's just a bad rebuild on the alternator

Get it checked with a volt meter, should
have around 12.5-14 V if it's doing it's thing

Try checking the big fuse's under the hood. there should be at least four of them. prob. by the battery.

if the alt was replaced was it because it left u stranded? u might want to check out the batt also

not fun to blow up one thing because of something else then repeat the cycle (been there) lol
