Title: Fan Shroud, Can I remove?
Post by: 96Kicker on October 30, 2007, 06:15:12 PM
Doing my 16v swap and the fan now hits the shroud around the radiator. Can I just remove the shround altogether from the vehicle. Will it affect the cooling?  I might be wrong but it's there jus for safety reasons.ie checking your oil, correct me on this.

No, the shroud is there to make the fan more "efficient" at pulling air through the radiator.  You could remove it and may not see any diminshed cooling, then again, maybe you will....if it was up to me, I would leave it in place.
Can you adjust the placement of the engine, or trim the shroud a little, so the fan will clear?

I will try to adjust the engine some but more than likely I will be triming it.

Can the fan and put a pusher fan in front of the radiator. You will gain a couple of HP and solve your interference problem.

it will work.  just a little adjusting. it will run mighty warm without it. make it work.  you got plenty of time. do it right. don't be impatient.
