Title: Calmini 2" and Rocky Road 2.5"
Post by: 96kickjx on October 31, 2007, 04:51:38 PM
How come the front springs aren't listed for these lifts, do they make front springs for these? Or only the 3"? I think I eventually want the rocky road 2.5 but what about the front springs?

I don't think Calmini sell their springs seperatly and Rocky Road use OME springs with a spacer if i am correct.

And I believe that Calmini has a 2"inch spacer built into there New control arms on their 2"inch lift.
From what I've seen.

From what I've seen, the Calmini 2" suspension kit uses the stock front springs, the lift is attained through their control arm's removeable lower front spring perches. The 2" kit gives you new front arms, struts, shocks, rear springs and diff drop brackets, as well as new bushings for the arms and mounts.

If RRO hasn't changed the lift from the Old Man Emu suspension, then it gives you shocks, struts, front and rear springs and coil spacers. The OME kit usually only gives 40mm or about 1-1/2" of lift, but RRO throws in their own coil spacers to try to make it 2-1/2". Also unless they changed the material or construction of their coil spacers, they usually get squished down to less than 1/2" thick within 6 months to a year... I would suggest if you want to OME kit, get it without the spacers and add better spacers from somewhere else, like Jeff on here or possibly even Sky's.

I have had a Calmini 2" lift for two years. Replaced the front springs with OME 1inch lift springs and it improved it alot. I have been told you might want to look at Ranchos for the rear to help with the rough ride on road. A lot of people replace Calmini shocks and struts with OME.

we used a 2" calmini on my fathers tracker, but by the time we were done the only calmini parts left on it were the control arms, the drop diff brackets and rear shocks. we used the OME struts and stock coils with a digger spacer in the back. he has no custom bumpers or a winch. drives awesome !!
calmini would make soooo much money if they would sell there parts seperatly ;)

Calmini already makes soooo much money! Calmini is no longer just a niche marketing suspension company. A few years ago they started Full Traction Suspension which sells lift kits for the major brands. On the Full Traction website they make a big deal about how the lifts are never out of stock. This I suspect is why our Suzuki stuff is always on back-order. I would guess that compared to the Ford Dodge Chevy and Jeep lifts they are selling Suzuki lifts and parts are just an afterthought. We probably are lucky that they have decided to continue making the parts we need at all.

On that note, If you are in that situation with Calmini on something you want, Hawk Strictly Suzuki is a stocking dealer. When I needed the 3 inch for lil Suzy, Calmini was back ordered but I was able to get it from Hawk quickly.

Your are somewhat right, but what Pure Suzuki (Calmini) has up their sleeves it amazing.  I can't tell you now, but some really great stuff is forthcoming.

But, you are right.  Full-Traction has big allocades and they are selling lifts for TJs and JKs like hot cakes.  Recently, the PURE JEEP line started, and that is also hot hot hot.  And they have Pure Toyota coming soon.  That is where the money is, and for anyone, it's all a means to the end.  Money is money, and you go where the most can be made.

All of this makes Suzuki stuff look small...very small.  But Steve Kramer told me (and showed me) of some stuff coming down the pike that is awesome.

New Suzuki stuff from Calmini, that is great news to hear. I really like Steve he is a good guy I am glad he is doing well, and I am glad that he still takes Suzuki accessories seriously.

I must add tho ... if RRO or calmini is *selling* stuff they don't or won't produce than that is deceiptful.

It shouldn't be hard for them to simply say "production is postponed, could be months" on a phone call.

Guys,

Check out RockMolester's 4 door build up here:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=444978

He's using OME suspension parts, but he's done some research with different springs and spacers to achieve the height that he wants.  He's also included part numbers in the write up as well.  He's running 30" tires, but I think this should clear 31s as is or probably even 33s with a mild body lift.

I'm about to do this to my 93 'Kick.  I'll probably run 30s since it is primarily a DD.

Good luck!
