Title: Is it easier to remove TSMN and Tsxfr case together or seperate? Tracker
Post by: kozaz on November 09, 2007, 07:26:14 AM
I have to remove my transfer case on a 93 Tracker 5speed.  Is it easier to split it when installed or easier to detach the transmission and transfer case from the engine then split it?

I'm worried about accessing the bolts on top of the split.

Thanks,

Ryan

if you have a body lift it's possible, but still not easy. if you have no body lift i think it would be very difficult

I would remove them as a unit, then when you reinstall everything, leave out that top "hidden" bolt.....I've done this to all of mine and it still works fine.
You may have to grind a couple of small notches in the front of the tcase coupling flange (for tranny shifter housing clearance, when slipping the tcase on the rear of the tranny).  You'll see what I mean, if you run into a clearance issue.  Make the mod, before you reinstall the tranny.....much easier to check for clearance.
