Title: Spintech muffler???
Post by: kickscrawler91 on November 09, 2007, 07:40:06 AM
Does anyone know how a spintech muffler would sound on a 95 sidekick? I have been referred to them twice by two muffler shops now. I am looking for kinda deep throaty sound.

Run a glass pack, As long as you run the exhaust pipe to the rear bumper it is not too loud and the sound is excellent.

Bad Info bud, Glass packs are lame and raspy, Go buy a Flowmaster 40 series off ebay for 50 bucks or get a OEM muffler at your auto parts store with a high flow cat and 2 inch pipe,

Spintechs are good for V8's i have dual 3' back back on my 93 cobra with spintechs.

Says who?

A Cherry Bomb/glass pack will out flow a Flowmaster any day...straight through without any baffles or chambers to make the exhaust gases go through.  If sound is all you care about than buy what you want  but I'll keep buying my decent sounding $23 Cherry Bombs and leave the $85 poor flowing Flowmasters for you.
Flowmasters sound good but that's about it.

kicks, look into Magnaflows.  You can get them in stainless steel for what a regular Flowmaster goes for and they're straight through so they flow far better than any baffled, chambered, S-curve, vented, etc etc etc mufflers.

That is not my experience, My truck sounds great. I have even gotten positive comments from strangers about how good it sounds. Calmini header, high flow cat, Cherry bomb, 2" pipe runs as straight as possible to the back bumper.

i put a thrush turbo muffler in mine 2 inch cut the second half of the exaust out where it bolts on and mounted the muffler there and just put a turn down tip on. i have a soft top and dont get fumes in the cabin. it sounds good has a little rumble and i think the state troopers liked it too and almost go a ticket for it

There's no muffler shops around here worth a damn so I can't get mandrel bent pipes to replace mine.  I think when my tailpipe rots off I'll just go with a turn down as well.

if your guna do it do it right.  those turn downs better not stall in the water or your screwed.    if u cant get the pipe bent holla at calmini and see if you could just buy the pipeing.  glass  packs are great for floww and yull stay true to jDM lol, but those spin techs have a life time warranty,  theyll never rot out.  im still for the spin, i love mine.

Personally I try to stay out of water that deep with my DD...my hubs would be completely submerged in order to get my glass pack under water and wheel bearing packing is sooooo much fun... ::)

Eh...a good friend owned my first Tracker before me and managed to float it a ways down a river before the tires hit bottom again...

...one of those, "how deep do you think it is?" moments.

I've got a 95' Tracker with a Spintech muffler on it.Sounds great, not to loud.Though the state cop that stopped my last month did not like it.Give me a $130 ticket. He told me it is against the law to alter my exhaust system.I'm going to fight it in court.

I currently have a thorley header into an open flow cat into a thrush glaspak into a thrush "turbo" muffler (all 2.25") ...

kinda "throaty" when under load, but at cruise or idle nice and quiet. Before I put the turbo muffler on it, was a bit too loud and resonating for my taste at cruise.

I also have no tail pipe either so that still adds to some noise in the cabin.

I live in Indiana. It is Indiana Law IC9-19-8-2.It's titled"muffler leaks, alteration or deterioration"Sec.2 A motor vehicle must be equipped with a muffler free from the following visually discermible conditions:exhaust gas leaks, alteration of muffler elements, deterioration of muffler elements. That's the law.I have a stainless steel system with no leaks. When I go to court I'm taking a letter from a my local muffler shop stating the exhaust system is sound.I also plan to take pictures of the system to court with me.
