think these would work in the rear of a 2nd gen 4 vitara? $50 a pair used.. is it worth a try?

i've "heard" some heep coils give 4inches of lift to the rear of our rigs, this though is for the 1st gen 2dr to my understanding so less lift on yours. as for exactly which model would work i don't know, i'd start by measuring the diameter of the coil to see if it fits without modifying the mounts, if you need to mess around with that it's really not worth the time when you don't know what you'll get when done. i say "heard" because the xl7 coils i installed were "supposed" to give 3inches of lift and they didn't, maybe 1.5 max. it seems that many of these part swapping missions we undertake have slightly different results for different people. also, if the used coils are old, saggy and crappy then they won't do what you want.. if you could test fit them it would be great!

i installed stock xl7 coils on my 2dr tracker, they provided some lift but not the 3inches i'd heard of. they however do carry weight well matched up with the mustang shocks and don't sag nearly as bad as the stock tracker coils with weight. i can actually fill my gas tank and pack up for a very comfortable and well hydrated/fed long weekend in the woods without worrying about highspeed bottoming out and bad sagging.

I think when LuvMyZuki and I did the GV coils on his Kicker 4dr, it gained about 1.5" maybe a little more. Look on ZW for the tech article to see. But 3" from XL coils would be new to me.

xl7 has a stiffer coil than the gv, in height it was a less than an inch taller than my stock coil and noticeably thicker. i think i got this info a while back from aftermarket 4x4, remember, my rig is a 2dr softtop, much lighter than the 4dr. either way, they are working out well for me thus far. and the fit works, so, maybe an option....

i might have to try out some XL7 springs in the rear when i put in my spacers..even if they don't give me any lift.. if they can keep the rear from sagging with a load it might be worth it for camping trips...

if i recall the curb weight is around 2700-2800 pounds, not positive on that though.

thats pretty much the same curb weight(minus around a 100lbs) as my 4door. if you got an extra +1 1/2" from XL7 coils i should get maybe a inch more height with a little less sag in my truck.. (im guessing of course!) hmmm.. I found some XL7 springs for $25 a peice(mildly used). I think il'll give them a try...
Are the front springs beefier too? from the specs i would guess they are as well due to the about 700lb difference from a vit to a XL7... might be worth a try as well!

ya, dunno about the weights we are seeing, i'm sure the 4dr weighs more than 100lbs more but i can't really provide anything more than my thought on that.
for 50bucks go for it!
the springs are slightly taller and visibly beefier.
these springs fit, i personally would not waste the time and effort on a spring that needs modifications in anyway to work with my rig, because in the end it ends up costing money and time... go for it!

yea forget the other crap... im gonna run XL7 springs front and back with spacers and well see what i get!

i'd like to findout the factory spring specs to figure out the actual lift possiblities...

from what i've read the xl7's won't work up front, softer spring rates or something of the like. your front coils should be fine running with a spacer. if you want to change to a heavier front spring go GV V6 up front. the thing with this is not being sure how much lift you will get exactly up front you don't know what spacer to use if any then you might find yourself taking the front end apart several times, if you do the work and don't have to pay somebody, and have the time to experiment go for it, i'd love to see the results. the rear xl7's in mine were a test that worked well.

The XL-7 will definitely fit up front.
When I first swapped in the 2.7, I also put in the XL-7 front springs thinking the increased weight would warrant more stiffness. Unfortunately, I also left in the 1" spring spacers I already had on the tuck, and the result was way too much lift. The tires basically rode on their outer edge (but the truck sure self-centered nicely!).
So, in a bit of a rush moving to a new house, I just put the old springs and spacers back. Which means I still don't know how much lift using only the XL-7 springs with no spacers will yield.

Heres the only spec info I can find for zuk springs and im guessing these are for ironmans lift springs, not stock sized springs. If you notice their XL7 springs are the same diameter as the GV and 4cyl springs just longer. Thats leading me to believe the stock XL7 springs would work on my 2.0L and maybe give it some lift. I guess the only way to find out how much would be to measure the stock clearance, change springs drop it and measure the new clearance if any! Since im making my own spacers I will just cut them to whatever size is needed to keep the front end from going over 2" that might help for getting to much lift like beercheck.
