Title: 97 X90/Sidekick auto to 5 speed trans?
Post by: ToyYoda on November 19, 2007, 05:32:45 PM
I have a 97 X90/Sidekick with a Trail Tough link kit & 85 Yota axles. The big problem has been the output seal on the transmission leaking due extreme movement at the drive shaft slip yoke. I have had the drive shaft cut & re-sized twice. The link arms removed & adjusted six times. Even as I type this I can see the Zuki out front of my shop dripping gear oil out the seal. Oh! I have replaced the auto trans. with a low mileage one from Petro Works too!. Each time replacing a new factory Suzuki output seal. Yes I guess I've given up & ready to move on. Now poss. Sidekick 5 speed with a Sami transfer case. Then I hope to have not only gearing options with the Sami tranfercase but a "bolt on" driveshaft flange & slip yoke on the shaft as well. Anyone with experience about this conversion/problem would be great to hear from about now. Thanx  :-\

Well now I have a second question. Why is it when I post a question & use the "Additional Options" to add a picture it can only be seen with my post if I log in? If I just go to the forum & look at my post with out signing in there isn't a picture!  ???

It's one of those members things. Just like the water cooler is not visable to nonmembers and while you are not logged in, looks like pic's are not shown also.

The Sammi case is suited to an offset rear diff so you'll need to consider the driveline angle, that's not to say it won't work as others have done it. The other option is to make a SYE for the kick t-case but you'll have to tear down the case to modify the output shafts.

GREAT! Zuki World is such a great option to find tech. answers. I didn't know about the picture thing until now, so thank you for that. As for the out put shaft problem & Sami case swap, I will look into the flange mod, to my transfer case first. If I can't find the right info to do it " I'll Be Back" as this forum has been very helpful so far. Hope I too can assist with some info in the future.  Thanx
