Title: Who makes a SYE for a X90/Sidekick?
Post by: ToyYoda on November 21, 2007, 01:33:43 PM
I am still having problems with my 96 X90(Trail Tough link kit) destroying out put shaft seals. The fix I have been told is to do what Jeeps have as a slip yoke fix kit called SYE. From what I have seen on the net it looks great & works even better. Now for a Suzuki? No where to be found.  I know there have to be a few who have felt the same pain. Yes I can design a system myself & spend a day or two in the mach. shop custom building a few mistakes till it works but isn't the web a better way to go first? I hope so. Please, someone has the answer out there. ??? Thanx

there is no vendor that sells a SYE kit for the sidekick yet. i just spoke to brent today and he says he's working on one, but it's not in production yet.
are you sure you have the suspension set up right? i have the very first production kit on my sidekick and it's been driven daily for the last year and half and wheeled hard and i'v had no trouble yet. are you sure that the machined surface of the slip part doesent have a bad spot on it? if it happens everytime immediatly after you drive it , i would say there is a burr on the slip part of the shaft.
hope ya get it figured out

Hey Jim lets get together and make a few. I can get some output shafts from Gary. Are you getting any vibes with the new kit. Is the front seal going bad or is it the rear.

I also found my rear out put shaft seal leaking last weekend. I'm not sure if it's from the "trail slayer" kit, but It would be great if someone sold a SYE kit for the sidekick.

I think there is a bronze bushing just behind the seal that could be worn, I would check that first.

Hey Gary, Good to hear from you. I should have known "Zuki World" would be the place to find you. Yes we should hang out & talk about a fix. I'm very happy to hear that a poss. SYE is in the works as thats just the guy who can do it! As for the tail shaft "brass bushing" in the out put housing. Yes I thought of that, but being as I replaced the transmission with a 46K one I thought it would be ok. I will check it out better now that you pointed it out. Thanx. I do know that being as I put the kit in a  X90 I had to have the drive shaft made to fit as the spacer on the rear didn't cut it. Thanx for the input from everyone. I will stay tuned for the poss. SYE.
